From Impruneta, a hilly paradise in the Chianti region of Tuscany, Cafaggio extra virgin olive oil is obtained with handpicked olives of the Frantoio, Moraiolo and Leccino variety, and has fast become a star in the production from the farm that also produces our Chianti vinegar. A painstaking care in the extraction of the oil from the fruit lends this oil an extra low acidity and maintains intact all the recognizable carachteristics of an excellent Tuscan olive oil: a pleasantly spicy flavor with a touch of bitterness at the end together with a green olive perfume redolent of artichoke flavor.
Reader Reviews I actually visited this mill that this came from, located right outside of Firenze in the heart of Toscana. You can stay at the villa, it has been turned into a B&B and it is beautiful! I purchased a small bottle of this while I was there (this past summer) for 10 euro, and just ran out. This is the only place I have been able to find this oil in the states, and believe me it is worth it! The best I have ever had...would definitely recommend. Also, don't cook with it...its better if used in it's virgin form, so with dipping/salads. |
