Regaleali Extra virgin olive oil 16.9oz Harvest 2007 The Tasca family has been producing olive oil in their estate in the hills above Palermo since 1830. While they are celebrated worldwide for their spectacular wines, their olive oil is more of an Italian culinary secret, rarely seen outside of Italy due to its limited production. Because of the small amount of olive oil pressed by the family each year, their Regaleali oil has never before been available in the United States. Pressed during the month of November, Regaleali olive oil is made from olive trees that are scattered amongst vineyards, wheat fields, and almond trees all over the Tasca estate, instead of a centralized olive grove. This conscious choice of growing method is a natural way to reduce the need for pesticides, but adds to the time and expense of the yearly harvest. There are over 3,500 olive trees on the estate, 1,600 of which are over 1,000 years old. Olive Varietals: Biancolilla, Nocellara, Ogliara, Giarraffa, Rizza, Piricuddara, Frantoia, Leccino, Moraiolo, and Coratina. Production: Continuous cycle. Acidity: .25% Delicious with beans, roasted peppers or potatoes. Reader Reviews This is one of the best tasting olive oils I've ever had. A rich scent and a taste that is fresh and flowery. This olive oil can be fully enjoyed on some fresh and warm ciabatta or baguette. My complements and sincere thanks to Tasca d'Almerita for this superb olive oil. |
